The Sigerson Cup gets underway this week, with the opening round of fixtures throwing in on Tuesday night. There are games across Tuesday and Wednesday evening, with some outstanding talent on display across round one. We have all the info you need on the first round of the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup.
Sigerson Cup round one: Fixtures
Tuesday January 10th
MTU Cork v UCD - 7pm, Cork IT
MTU Cork host UCD in the MTU GAA Stadium on Tuesday evening. MTU can call on several Cork intercounty players, including Rory Maguire (MTU captain) and Sean Meehan, while Conal Kennedy of Tipperary and Aaron O'Shea of the Kerry U20s also involved. UCD, meanwhile, have Tailteann Cup winner Jonathan Lynam of Westmeath, as well as Kerryman Ronan Buckley, in their ranks.
Queens University v Ulster University - 7pm, Queens University The Dub
Matthew Downey of Derry already has an Ulster senior intercounty medal to his name, and will hope to add Sigerson Cup glory to his honours list with Queens this year. Their opponents Ulster University have 2021 All-Ireland winner Darragh Canavan in their setup, and will hope to win out in this Ulster derby.
ATU Donegal v DCU Dóchas Éireann - 7pm, Convoy
ATU, as you'd expect, have a Donegal-dominated panel, and their squad includes Conor O'Donnell, who broke into the senior intercounty team during 2022. They will face a DCU side which includes three Dublin players - Lorcan O'Dell, David Lacey, and David O'Hanlon - as well as 2019 All-Ireland minor winning captain Conor Corbett of Cork.
SETU Carlow v St. Mary's University College - 7:30pm, Carlow I.T.
Carlow will be dreaming of claiming Sigerson Cup glory for the first time ever in 2023, and they get this year's campaign underway against two-times winners St. Mary's University on Tuesday night.

Wednesday 11th January
UCC v UL - 7pm, Mardyke
The battle of the Munstermen takes place in Cork on Wednesday night. Similarly to MTU Cork, UCC can call on a strong cohort of Rebels, with several of those who lined up in the recent Cork v Kerry McGrath Cup game (on both sides) involved for UCC. The big story for UL is that their star man, David Clifford, will be missing for 2023, having graduated from the college in the summer of 2022.
ATU Sligo v MTU Kerry - 7:15pm, IT Sligo Grounds
Joseph Keaney of Sligo is certainly one to watch for the future, having already won a county intermediate title with Easky, and an U-20 provincial title with Sligo. He is the man to watch on an ATU Sligo team that will face MTU Kerry in their opening Sigerson Cup game on Wednesday night.
University of Galway v Maynooth - 7:30pm, Dangan
Under their new name of University of Galway, the westerners will get the defence of their Sigerson Cup title kick-started with the challenge of Maynooth on home soil. Maynooth will bring the talents of
TU Dublin v ATU Galway - 7:30pm, TU Dublin Grangegorman
The most recent "new" winners of the Sigerson Cup, TU Dublin, face ATU Galway on Wednesday night, who are seeking their first ever triumph in the competition.
