The football was not of the highest quality. 30 minutes into the game, Dublin led by two points despite not one of their players having registered a score. That was down to two unfortunate own goals by Mayo.
Still, it was an enthralling game. One you could not take your eyes off.
Lee Westwood was one of those watching and drawn into an All-Ireland final which continuously ratcheted up the tension.
What a game this Irish football is!!! Dublin v Mayo .

Westwood was blown away by the climax and that the two sides will have to do it all again in 13 days.
They've got to do it all again!!!? Bloody hell! That was exciting stuff. #DUBvMAYO

His fellow PGA Tour pro - and huge GAA fan - Shane Lowry extended an invite to the English golfer for the replay.
You should come over for it. You won't regret it. https://t.co/XMjbeiKB37

Westwood has a slight schedule conflict on that day, however. It will be Day Two of the Ryder Cup. He'll be in Minnesota when Dublin and Mayo take to the Croke Park pitch.
I'm a bit busy 2weeks today Beef!

Lowry was one of those players to miss out on a European Ryder Cup place. Westwood was one of captain Darren Clarke's wildcard selections.
Lowry, though undoubtedly in good humour, called the reminder an 'unnecessary dig'.
That's a bit of an unnecessary dig shrek https://t.co/zGO4a42Mmd
