The first half between Cork and Limerick in the Allianz Hurling League was an eventful one, especially for Shane Kingston. The Cork forward scored two goals, and was also sent off.
Late in the half, with Cork holding a substantial lead, Kingston was shown a red card by referee Seán Stack for a hit to the head of Seán Finn.
Shortly after Kingston was sent-off, Limerick's Seamus Flanagan was also shown a red card for a similar challenge on Niall O’Leary.
"Shane Kingston, this was a very poor tackle, a dangerous, ugly tackle. It was an absolute red card," Donal Óg Cusack said on League Sunday.
"It was the same then on the other side with Seamus Flanagan. Again, leading with the elbow. Anything around the head has to be punished by referees.
"Seamus Flanagan has been sent off in the last three league campaigns. He was sent off in 2019, 2020, and he continues that record this year."

Cusack added that Cork substitute Seán Twomey "was very lucky to escape a red" late in the second half.
"I think Seán Stack got a lot right today. He got a bit wrong as well. I definitely think Twomey should have got a red card."

Kingston had scored his first goal in the 20th minute after some excellent work from Patrick Horgan. His second came 14 minutes later to put Cork ahead by 13 points.
The Rebels, in what was a rematch of last year's All-Ireland final, led by 14 points at the break, and eventually won 2-19 to 1-13. It was Limerick's third defeat of the National League.
