Cork are through to the last four of the All-Ireland hurling championship, though their performance against Dublin in Saturday's quarter-final left much to be desired.

The Rebels took control of the game early on in Semple Stadium, though they struggled at points against a Dublin team hurting from their Leinster final humiliation.

At one stage early in the second half, Cork's lead stretched as far as nine points but a late revival from Dublin saw them in with a half-chance late in the game.

Ultimately, the Munster side won out by five points, but it was not an entirely convincing display from Pat Ryan's men in Thurles.

Having expressed his concerns for the Rebels at half-time, Limerick legend Shane Dowling would expand on his criticism at full-time.

The former Treaty County hurler said that he had concerns about Cork's nerviness towards the end of the game, saying manager Ryan would be "very disappointed" with how much pressure his side were under in the closing stages.

Dublin 0-21 Cork 0-26: Dubs exit championship at quarter-final stage

Speaking on RTÉ at full-time, Shane Dowling said of Cork's performance:

I think, when you're trying to push on with a game, Cork might have preferred if this was their period and they were pushing on.

Some of these goal chances, I know you'll look back and see Dublin taking points, and Cork didn't concede any goals. But there were plenty of opportunities before the game.

It's very disappointing from Cork that they were under massive pressure coming into this late stage.

He had expressed his concerns for Cork at half-time, with Dublin asserting themselves well in midfield and causing issues for the Rebels, despite the scoreline telling a very different story.

Dowling had said that Cork may be able to survive a quarter-final against Dublin with such a performance but, when it came to facing the might of Limerick in the semi-final, it may come to cost them.

Whether they go on and win today's game or not, they've got to consider themselves as real All-Ireland contenders.

The lack of hitting and the lack of tackles out there in the first-half...they might get away with it today, but not the next day, if they get through.

It has been a whirlwind season for Pat Ryan's Rebels who, after a middling league campaign, looked to be down and out in Munster after back-to-back defeats to Clare and Waterford.

However, a sensational win over Limerick in Pairc Uí Chaoímh reinvigorated their charge, and it now appears likely they will face the same opposition in the All-Ireland semi-finals next month.

Barring a shock Wexford win over Clare, the Rebels will face the defending All-Ireland champions in the last four. They will know their performance will have to be much better if they are to pull off another shock win over Limerick.
