Shane Curran has criticised the manner in which referees are selected for big games following the Roscommon county semi-finals.

Describing the episode as 'shambolic' and 'a black day for Roscommon football', he said the referee for the Faithleach's-Pearses semi-final was 'not fit for purpose' and his incompetence' marred what should have been a great game.

He also spoke of his surprise that Kevin McStay was overlooked for the Mayo job and whether or not he foresaw a changing of the guard in Connacht over the next few years.
