The Seven Best GAA Games To Watch This Weekend

It's another massive weekend of action in the GAA Calendar, with two senior provincial finals taking place, a game live from London and a host of intermediate finals. Here's the seven best GAA games to watch on TV this weekend.

Saturday 

Tara v Naomh Pádraig  - Ulster JFC Twinning Final, Ulster GAA TV,1 pm

This one will be coming to you live from London and could be well worth the watch if the quality of football delivered by other expat teams in the Championship so far is anything to go by.

While Donegal's Naomh Pádraig may be riding high on their Ulster Junior Championship win, containing Tara's Shay Rafter who put six points past Mayo for London in the 2024 Connacht Championship and represented Connacht in the rules proposal interprovincials a number of weeks ago.

Austin Stacks  v Aherlow - Munster IFC final, Clubber TV, 1 pm

Kerry's Austin Stacks will be bidding for an Intermediate Football Championship win when they take on Tipperary's Aherlow in the Munster IFC final in Mallow on Saturday.

While Stacks are the heavy favourites for Saturday's clash, Aherlow are battle-hardened have been into the trenches in the Munster IHC semi-final, emerging with just a one-point win.

Arva v Ballinderry - Ulster IFC final, Ulster GAA TV, 5 pm 

Arva and Ballinderry face off in what's expected to be a closely contested Ulster Intermediate Football Championship final on Saturday.

Both Arva and Ballinderry have enjoyed near identical runs to this stage, claiming ultimately comfortable 6 and 5 point wins over Drumgath and Carrickcruppen in the quarter-finals, before coming out on the right side of their semi-finals by two points and point. Arva beat Magheracloone while Ballinderry overcame Derrylaughan by the slimmest of margins.

Firies v Kilmurry - Munster JFC, Clubber, 6 pm

Recommended

Kerry's Firies delivered an emphatic nine-point win over Cappagh to secure their spot in Saturday's decider, putting 3-17 past the Limerick side in vintage Kerry style.

In similar fashion, Kilmurry's semi-final against Cashel was done and dusted by half time with the Cork side enjoying a seven point lead over Cashel who had scored just a single goal in the opening half hour. In the second-half destruction, Kilmurry brought their tally up to 4-23 while Cashel added just two points to their one goal.

 

St. Lachtain's v Castletown Liam Mellows - Leinster JHC final, Clubber, 1:30 pm

Saturday's Leinster decider pits the Kilkenny champions against the Wexford champions as the two strongholds of Leinster hurling battle it out.

Lachtain's overcame Avondale in Arklow two weeks ago, while Castletown faced off against St Fechins last weekend, giving their opponents a one-week advantage coming into Saturday's clash.

Sunday 

Loughmore-Castleiney v Dr. Crokes - Munster SFC final, TG4, 1:30 pm

This is one of the weekend's showstoppers as the Tipperary and Kerry Champions go head-to-head for a place in the All-Ireland semi-final against the Ulster champions.

Favourites Dr Crokes enjoyed a seven point win over Castlehaven in the Munster quarter-final but were pushed tight, escaping from their semi-final against Rathgormack with a one-point win, having racked up just nine points in the sixty minutes of football.

Loughmore-Castleiney enjoyed a slightly more bearable semi-final, claiming a five-point win over Éire Óg Inis of Clare.

Errigal Ciaran v Kilcoo - Ulster SFC final, TG4, 3:30

Kilcoo who'll be eyeing up All-Ireland victory will be hoping to book their spot in January's semi-finals when they take on Errigal Ciaran in the Ulster final on Saturday.

Errigal scraped by Clann Eireann in a narrow semi-final win, a result which was in stark contrast to Kilcoo's who blew Scotstown win in an emphatic win.
