David Clifford was back in action for Kerry on Sunday and Paul Flynn is still getting called out for his tweet about the Fossa man last August.
Clifford hit 1-01 off the bench against Monaghan as Kerry claimed their first win of the league season, and Flynn was on RTÉ's Allianz League Sunday panel later in the evening, singing the praises of the two-time Footballer of the Year.
After Kerry's All-Ireland Final defeat to Dublin last summer though, Flynn gained a lot of traction with a tweet that claimed Clifford wasn't up to scratch on that day at Croke Park and that James McCarthy should be named the best player in the country for 2023.
"Clifford was smoked against Dublin and poor against Tyrone yet still ppl think he is footballer of the year," the former Dubs man posted. "Not for me - James Mc led Dublin to glory without having his best day yest! He’s a born winner and leader."
About 12 hours later, Flynn came back online to clarify what he meant: "Bit of controversy re my last tweet; Do I think Mick Fitz got the better of Clifford? Yes Do I think Clifford was POTY? No. Do I think he’s one of best in our generation? Yes - and top ambassador for game. No more midnight tweets."

Sean Cavanagh makes quip at Paul Flynn's expense
In a later conversation with Second Captains, Flynn stated that he had reached out to Clifford over what he meant and that Clifford had been "dead sound" about it.
However, Flynn's fellow pundit Sean Cavanagh hadn't forgotten about it on Sunday and gave Flynn a small ribbing over his past social media comments.
"I know you didn't rate him much last year in the final David Clifford's not a bad footballer," said the ex-Tyrone man, to which Flynn agreed: "He is a good footballer," through a bashful smile.
The quip came at the end of a segment in which Flynn had been praising Clifford and his fellow Kerry senior stars for doing the business when needed against Monaghan.
Host Joanne Cantwell struggled to contain her laughter and the same could probably be said for many watching around the country.
If you missed Allianz League Sunday, you'll be able to hear the comment at the end of the below clip.
Are Kerry too reliant on the usual suspects?
