Scotland will play in Croke Park for the first time this month when the Ladies Gaelic Football team line out in the Junior All-Ireland final.
The Scots overcame Derry in the Semi-Final, and contains a blend of players with Irish roots as well as those who hail from Scottish cities such as Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Speaking to LGFA media after defeating the Ulster side, Tyrone native Shauna McWilliams said:
It's totally surreall. Delighted to have my folks here today and hopefully we'll have more support when we go to Croke Park. I've never played there before and it's a dream to get there.
McWilliams added that while it 'feels weird playing for Scotland,' she added that the close-knit friendships formed within the squad will make it a a proud day for her.
It's good to be away from home and play Gaelic. We're all so close and we're almost like a family really. It'll be great to play a big game with all the Scotland girls.
This marks a tremendous achievement for Scotland considering that the Aberdeen based players live over four hours away from their training base making it difficult to hold collective sessions. And not all the Irish players are blessed with a background in Gaelic Football.
Bronagh Hegarty, originally from Antrim, specialises in camogie and only decided to take up football when she moved to Scotland.
Football was never really bred into me so to come this far with Scotland and play in Croke Park is something you dream of as a child. It's unbelievable and it's a proud day.'
Scotland defeated Derry on a scoreline of 2-05 to 1-13 and will face Louth in the TG4 Junior All-Ireland final.
