It's been a hectic few months for Cork Senior Camogie player Saoirse McCarthy.

The Courcey Rangers star helped inspire Cork to a second All-Ireland in a row in August.

Speaking at the announcement of Eir as the official Telco partner of the Camogie Association, McCarthy spoke of the huge interest in the getting the cup around the Rebel county.

The O'Duffy Cup is in high demand as Cork supporters look to celebrate the success of a truly great team.

While it's been a great season for the Cork team, McCarthy is also one of three players nominated for Player of the Year, which is a sign of her rapid ascent in the game.

Speaking around the Eir launch, McCarthy had some interesting things to tell GAA.ie about her connections with the Cork squad,

We're a really, really focused group of girls,

They are probably my best friends.

This camaraderie has been key to their success, as they have responded admirably to setbacks and injuries.

To counteract this, she tries to enjoy day-to-day life, being with her teammates, and looking forward to training.

Off the pitch, McCarthy has been busy pursuing her education.

After completing a Sports and Exercise Management degree at MTU Cork, she is now enrolled in a Digital Marketing Course in TUD.

She relished her course in Cork and is proud of her decision to pursue a masters in Dublin.

McCarthy is also proud of her club, Courcey Rovers, which she represents alongside Cork teammate Fiona Keating.

Despite the challenges they have faced, including the loss of 11 starters, they have continued to perform well.

We're really proud of where we got this year, despite everything, and the younger girls are really stepping up to the plate

As the Camogie Association welcomes Eir as its official Telco partner, McCarthy's words of wisdom serve as a reminder to players at all levels to find balance and joy in the game.

By doing so, they can ensure a long and successful career, both on and off the pitch.

Building on over a decade of support for the GAA, eir, Ireland’s largest telecommunications provider, has been announced as the official telco partner of the Camogie Association and new title sponsor of the U16 All-Ireland Camogie Championships for the next three years.
