Why Richard Hughes didn't pick up the ball as headed towards goal during injury time of the Roscommon Division 1 league final, we're not sure. You'll be glad he didn't.
With Hughes's Roscommon Gaels side leading Oran by two points in poor conditions at Dr Hyde Park on Saturday night, they won possession on their own half-back line.
"Then a moment of magic by Roscommon Gaels player Richard Hughes, who started the move 60 yards [from the Oran goal]," Willie Hegarty said in his match report for Shannonside FM, "and then with some wonderful, wonderful soccer skills finished the move as he chipped the ball over the advancing Oran keeper Shane Regan for a wonderful individual goal."

Roscommon Gaels won the game 2-12 to 0-13 to claim their first O'Rourke Cup title since 1994. The final was Oran's first appearance in a Roscommon Division 1 final.
Hegarty added that Hughes is rumoured to be heading to Australia and will miss the Roscommon championship which starts in five weeks.
Richard Hughes just scored goal of the season in the Hyde. Soccer style from the half way line, then dinked it over the keeper messi style, Unreal finish. @RoscommonGAA #Gaa

Congratulations to @RoscommonGaels on winning their first league senior league title since 1994. Worth going to Hyde Park to see Richard Hughes' goal. One of the best I have ever seen scored in the Hyde. Sensational. @RoscommonPeople #RosGAA pic.twitter.com/WqqfYEvNaF
