Rory Gallagher has been linked with a return to inter-county management and there appears to be several options for the Fermanagh native.

Gallagher was in charge of Derry up until last summer when he left the role just days before the 2023 Ulster final after domestic abuse allegations pertaining to his private life.

The Ulster Council temporarily barred Gallagher "without prejudice" from coaching as the accusations were being investigated by a safeguarding panel.

That barring order was lifted by the Disputes Resolution Authority in February, allowing Gallagher to coach again.

Since then, the former Donegal boss has been linked with a return to the Derry job which has been vacant following Mickey Harte's departure.

However, when news broke that Vinny Corey also stepped down as Monaghan boss, Gallagher was touted as one of the candidates to becomes his successor as well.

Corduff is managed by Séamus McEnaney, who has been in charge of the Farney county for two separate stints in the past.

The fact that Gallagher is working with McEnaney in the county, stirs up speculation that he might make his return to management with Monaghan rather than the Oakleafers.

Whether that is on his own, or as a joint-manager alongside McEnaney is unknown, but as long as there are vacant jobs in the inter-county scene, it appears that Gallagher will be linked with them.

However, The Irish News states that the ex-Derry boss remains the clear front runner to return to his old job in the Oakleaf county.

According to the report, Gallagher is very keen on a return to the Derry job and that he has the backing of some high-ranking officials and a leading group of players.

The 45-year-old was seen with Derry officials in the stand at Healy Park during the Ulster minor football final between Derry and Armagh earlier this year and has retained close links with a number of members of the panel.

Clubs were given the opportunity to nominate candidates for the role up until July 25, four days before the All-Ireland final.

It is understood that Gallagher, and Watty Graham's Glen manager Malachy O'Rourke were among the nominations.
