In a tightly-fought contest, Tipperary overcame Limerick in a far more one-way period of extra-time.

Leading from the start, Tipperary ultimately proved too much for Limerick; their recent efforts at rallying late proved fruitless this evening.

Making the most of their chances, and sacrificing comparatively few wides to their wasteful visitors, Tipperary will probably be left wondering how they didn't see the game out in normal time.

Finishing 0-26 a piece after 70 minutes, the score of the game undoubtedly went to Tipperary's Ronan Maher. From a side-cut, Maher's effort from the half-way line was monstrous.

Despite fighting for their lives for much of the game, Limerick had no fear of expressing themselves either; this Diarmuid Byrnes point was all the better for Barry Nash's skillful pass.

Tipperary will now progress to the Allianz Hurling League final against the winners of Wexford and Kilkenny tomorrow.
