All-Ireland champions Armagh have reportedly been given a major boost regarding the return of Rian O'Neill this season.
The Orchard County, who won their first Sam Maguire Cup in over 20 years after besting Galway in the final last summer, battled the Tribesmen on the opening weekend of the Allianz League.
After Armagh's defeat to Galway, manager Kieran McGeeney confirmed that O'Neill wasn't in the squad, and said that he has been given time off for a few months to deal with personal matters.
McGeeney's open ended answer had created speculation that the All-Star might not return this season.
O'Neill was one of the biggest stars in Armagh's All-Ireland winning crusade last year, playing a key role in helping them lift the Sam Maguire for only the second time in their history.
Reports now indicate that McGeeney will be able to call upon his star man with the League nearing its end and the Ulster Championship fast approaching.
Report: Rian O'Neill to make Armagh return in 2025
A report by the Irish Mirror has indicated the 27-year-old will be back in the orange jersey in a matter of weeks.
It is claimed that O'Neill has "returned" to training with the intercounty side after taking part in a training session on Tuesday.
It also speculates that while their next game, a meeting with Dublin, could come too soon for O'Neill, he may feature in their clashes with Kerry and Derry ahead of the begininng of their bid for Ulster SFC success.
Ulster won the inter-provincial tournament that was created to trial the new rules last season and O'Neill contributed greatly to their success, particularly by making the most of the new two-point arc rule.
If Armagh are to retain their title, they are going to need all of the firepower that they can get, so having O'Neill back in the mix is sure to put other teams on notice.
