Four-time All-Ireland football championship winner Kieran Donaghy has joined the backroom team of the Galway hurlers.
The Irish Independent's Colm Keys reports today that the Kerryman has accepted an invitation from Galway hurling manager Micheál Donoghue and will fill a performance coaching role with the team.
Donaghy retired from inter-county football in September after 13 years playing for the Kerry seniors. His other sporting love - playing basketball for Tralee Warriors - has limited him to just two meetings with the Galway panel.
Donoghue said that the 35-year-old, who "commands massive respect", will have increased interaction with his Galway teams as the year progresses.
