God this could be hurling's biggest pop culture moment ever. Reader Ruairi McEvoy was kind enough to inform us of the existence of a mid-90s ER episode where George Clooney's character Doug Ross's evening plans include drinking a beer in a lounge chair and watching hurling on ESPN. Not sure how that's remotely possible given that ESPN has never aired hurling (in my memory). Even if he got the channel wrong, how is he, in the pre-internet era, going to resolve the six-hour time difference between Ireland and Chicago? Still, who's going to tell George Clooney that he's wrong? Not us.
