Across the water, they sang that the words of the prophets were written on the subway walls and tenement halls.

In Ireland, this is the preserve of local GAA commentators.

Radio Kerry leads the way on this, with the inimitable Weeshie Fogarty. Weeshie was not doing the live commentary on yesterday's magnificent semi-final with Dublin, but the station did not disappoint in his absence. Gary O'Sullivan and former Kerry captain Ambrose O'Donovan were calling the action, and their manic intonation and reaction did justice to the Game of the Year.

Their reaction to the second Kerry goal was particularly brilliant, but also impressive was their reaction to Kevin McManamon's late barge on Peter Crowley and their post-game analysis, saying that Dublin were worthy their two-point victory, praising their superior strength, fitness and stamina.
