Just over a week ago, players from the Qatar GAA club embarked on a trip across the country. It was not your average journey traversing Qatar - they did so soloing a football.

"Basically, as a group, we soloed a GAA football from West to East across the entire country of Qatar," says Daniel, the Qatar GAA club PRO.

The event, which took place on Qatar's 7th annual National Sport Day, was in aid of UNICEF and aims to benefit children in war-torn Syria.

The run was a total of 65km and we completed it in just over 5 hours. The aim of the run was to raise funds for children affected by the war in Syria, along with setting a new record for the longest continuous GAA solo. In total we raised over €1500

The club has over 170 members. Most of those are Irish. Though, there are also Brits, Americans Brazilians and some locals involved.
