Prince Charles was in Kilkenny today as part of his three-day visit to Ireland with wife Camilla.
On the grounds of Kilkenny Castle, he was given a demonstration by some local royalty, Brian Cody and Henry Shefflin.
The Kilkenny manager and the ten-time All-Ireland winner showed Prince Charles some hurling basics before the 68-year-old took the hurley in his own hand.
A decent fist the royal made of it too, getting a cheer from the crowd (video via TV3).
Sean Defoe of Newstalk was also there to capture Prince Charles' hurling debut.

It was not Charles' first encounter with hurling, two years ago he told then Galway manager Anthony Cunningham that he was surprised that there are not more injuries in the sport.
