Portarlington faced Portlaoise in the first round of the Laois Under-21 Football Championship last weekend, with Portlaoise salvaging a replay thanks to goalkeeper Graham Brody.
Presumably fed up with some ineffective forward play, Brody decided to take things into his own hands.
From the Laois Nationalist:
Portlaoise found themselves six points down with just ten minutes remaining and despite conceding a goal; it looked as if Portarlington would hold on for victory. However, keeper Brody had other ideas when he gathered a clearance on his own 21 metre line. A series of one-twos saw the keeper rampage forward before eventually being dragged down 40 metres from goal but he managed to keep his composure and dust himself down before sending the tie to a replay.
Though it isn't clear from that passage, Portlaoise had closed the gap to a point by the time Brody made his heroic run.
Unfortunately we don't have any video of the incident but we believe it went something like this.
