Michael Foley, the author of the award-winning 'Kings Of September' and the recently published 'The Bloodied Field', joined us to discuss some of his favourite GAA books and the process of writing a sports book, whether it be a high concept book or an autobiography.
Books discussed include Tom Humphries 'Green Fields', Denis Walsh's 'Hurling: The Revolution Years', and 'Fairytale of New York'. He also talks sports autobiographies and his experience ghosting Mickey Harte's book.
We also touch on the broader differences between GAA books and books on other sports.
His recent book 'The Bloodied Field' is a truly brilliant exploration of the events of the first Bloody Sunday in 1920.
