Galway ended a 29-year All-Ireland hurling title drought at Croke Park on Sunday with defeat of Waterford, a side whose own search for another Liam MacCarthy victory will now enter its 59th year.
It was a day which saw joyous scenes for Galway players and management and their families along with supporters. The day also saw tributes paid to absent heroes Tony Keady and Niall Donoghue.
