The Pauric Mahony picture, where he was being consoled by a young Kilkenny fan after missing a late chance to draw the All-Ireland hurling semi-final replay for Waterford, was one of the images of the GAA year. Now Mahony and the girl have finally met.
Mahony scored nine points on that August afternoon but after missing the free in the last second of the game he was absolutely devastated. A young Kilkenny fan, Jennifer, was running past and stopped to console Mahony. The image of her doing so touched GAA fans everywhere.

A couple of days later it emerged that after Jennifer met Club Deise, the Waterford Supporter's Club, they presented her with a framed photo of Mahony's jersey that he wore during the game, which had been signed by the Waterford star.
And now Jennifer and Mahony have been re-united after Jennifer won the 'Moment of the Year' award at the 'Star GAA Awards' (Irish Daily Star GAA Awards).
