A story that began with an Irish Examiner columnist ends with another.
After Offaly's disappointing Leinster defeat to Wicklow, Brian Gavin loosed tales of player unrest and dysfunction in the camp. While many of these stories have been denied, it was announced on Wednesday that Stephen Wallace was being relieved of his duties. After a brief flurry of speculation as to who would succeed him, Offaly announced last night that historian, author, and columnist Paul Rouse is taking charge for the rest of the championship.
Per the, you guessed it, Examiner, Rouse is probably going to be joined in the management team by his brother John, who guided Tullamore to SFC success in the county five years ago, 1982 All-Ireland winner Stephen Darby and Darby’s clubmate Alan McNamee.
As Rouse's appointment was ratified last night, John Doyle took temporary charge of training.
