Paddy O'Sullivan, the Kilmoyley vice-chairman who attacked Paul Galvin during Sunday's Kerry Senior Hurling Championship final, is likely to get a two-year ban from GAA activities. The Kerry Competitions Control Committee met on Monday night and made the proposal.
O'Sullivan ran onto the pitch and struck the All-Ireland winner with a hurley early in the second half of the game between Kilmoyley and Lixnaw. Kilmoyley will also have to place a four-figure bond with the Kerry County Board which they will lose if another such incident occurs. The club has three days in which it can appeal the decision.
The game finished 0-11 each with Galvin scoring two points for Lixnaw. The replay is set for October 11th.
Back in 2003, Ballyduff GAA Club also had to place a bond with the County Board after an incident during a County Championship semi-final (also featuring Kilmoyley) where a referee was attacked.
