The Sligo county board has confirmed that Pat Spillane Jnr has joined the county's senior football panel.
The 23-year-old is the son of eight-time Kerry All-Ireland winner Pat Spillane. He qualifies to play for Sligo through his mother Rosarii.
Spillane was one of the star players for St Judes as they reached last year's Dublin SFC final. He was Man of the Match, scoring three points from midfield, in the semi-final victory against Lucan Sarsfields.
The Kerry native transferred to St Judes from Templenoe two years ago. In 2016, along with cousins Adrian and Killian Spillane, he was part of the Templenoe team which won the All-Ireland junior title.
After beating Leitrim in the FBD Cup semi-final earlier this month, Sligo lost out to Roscommon in the semi-final. Their National Football League Division 4 campaign gets underway on January 30th when they face Wexford.

"Sligo County Board can confirm that Pat Spillane has joined with the county’s senior football panel following the approval by the Competition Controls Committee of the GAA of his request to field with the county of his mother," Sligo GAA said in a statement issued to the Sligo Champion.
"Spillane (23), who is resident in Dublin where he plays for the St Jude’s club in Templeogue has begun training with Sligo’s Dublin based players and will participate in preparations for the forthcoming National League campaign which throws in on Sunday week next when Sligo travel to Wexford."
