GAA HQ have moved in to oversee the running of Páirc Ui Chaoimh after it was revealed building costs have run almost €25 million over budget.

Per Michael Moynihan in today's Irish Examiner, Croke Park Stadium Director Peter McKenna has said that the cost of the stadium is a massive €110 million, in spite of the €86 million estimated last year.

McKenna confirmed that the GAA have appointed a management team to oversee the running of the stadium, and a budget has been set for 2019 and a three-year strategic plan is in place. While the strategic plan covers until 2021, McKenna said that this will be a long-term issue for all involved, putting a '10 to 15-year' timeframe on the arrangement.

McKenna also said that the playing surface at the ground will have to be replaced.
