Paddy McBrearty was taken to hospital following a collision with the post during Ireland's win against Australia in the EirGrid International Rules game at Croke Park on Saturday night.
11 minutes into the second quarter, McBrearty reached to tap a high hand pass from Bernard Brogan into the net and in the process was shoved into the post by Australia's Luke Hodge.
Adding to McBrearty's misfortune, the goal did not stand. Instead referee Joe McQuillan awarded Ireland penalty which was scored by Conor McManus.
Ireland manager Joe Kernan confirmed afterwards that the Donegal forward - who played no further part in the game after the incident - had been taken to hospital with a suspected kidney injury.
