Who fears to speak of '98?
The county of Offaly has been stung. Ger Loughnane's gently critical remarks about the fitness and conditioning of Offaly hurlers has drawn a predictably outraged response. And the year of our Lord 1998 has been broached a few times.
Daithi Regan, in particualar, is looking at drastic ways to ensure that Ger retreats back up his own posterior.
@DuignanMichael @darraghmaloney someone give Ger a replica Liam McCarthy cup, stamp it 1998 "winners" then he might crawl back up his ass

Duignan, one of the chief villains in '98 from a Clare point of view, was a small bit more diplomatic in his earlier tweet.
@DarraghMaloney Cheap shot at very dedicated bunch of lads.Grossly unfair! Maybe we should get a full time manager!! #GerDidn'tInventHurling — Michael Duignan (@DuignanMichael) February 14, 2014
Shane Lowry is never slow to defend the honour of his county's GAA stars. Most of the current players including Shane Dooley have maintained a dignified silence.
@shanedoole think loughnane should have to spend a week with you lads and see how he gets on. — Shane Lowry (@shanelowrygolf) February 14, 2014
Another '98 reference...
@daithi_regan @Woolberto @DuignanMichael Loughnane has still not got over 98 so now he insults the Offaly lads a bit petty really — Colm Spollen (@Acknetan) February 14, 2014
Ger Loughnane's low credibilty rating has plunged to Zero. His Munster bias was bad enough but this is a new low. #getover98
