Nine people were injured after falling from the back of a lorry in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow on Saturday evening.

The incident happened in Enniskerry village. It involved local GAA players and supporters who were taking part in celebrations after Enniskerry's Junior beat Avoca to win the Wicklow Junior B football championship earlier in the day.

A video posted on social media appeared to show the men celebrating on the back of a lorry before suddenly falling off the back of it after a railing gave way.

Gardaí say the injured men were taken to Tallaght and St Vincent's University Hospitals for treatment but that their injuries are not life-threatening.

A statement from Enniskerry GAA club was posted on Facebook confirming "some players have bad injuries but everyone will be fine”.

“Enniskerry GAA has asked that people don’t share the video of the accident on social media. There is no critical or life-threatening injuries after tonight’s accident nor was there any deaths.”
