Galway GAA have named Micheál Donoghue as the man who will succeed Anthony Cunningham as the county's senior hurling manager.
In a statement on GalwayGAA.ie, it was confirmed that Donoghue will take over for 2016.
Clarinbridge’s Micheál Donoghue is to be the new Galway Senior Hurling Manager for 2016. Micheál was involved with former Tipperary manager Eamon O’Shea’s backroom team for the past 2 years, guided his club Clarinbridge to win the All-Ireland Club Hurling title in March, 2011 and part of this year's Clarinbridge minor backroom team that won the County Title.
As mentioned in the statement, Donoghue managed Clarinbridge to victory in the 2011 All-Ireland club final against O'Loughlin Gaels of Kilkenny.
Galway Bay FM reported earlier today that ex-Galway hurler Frannie Forde will be part of Donoghue's backroom team.
Cuala manager Mattie Kenny, who took his side to the final of this year's Leinster club championship, is also thought to have interviewed for the role.
