There could be a new GAA computer game on the horizon very soon.
A sufficient period of time has elapsed since the release of 'Gaelic Games' for the PS2 in 2005 and its sequel 'Gaelic Games 2' in 2007. We believe the scars of those unfortunate endeavours have finally healed.
It's time for the GAA and the gaming world to team up again. It's bound to be better this time.
A Northern Irish developer, Paedar McCann has enlisted the help of Monaghan's Darren Hughes and Tyrone's Mattie Donnelly, to create 'All Star Gaelic.'
McCann and his team of people at MojoPin, told the Sunday World that the game is 12 years in the planning. He told the paper that a number of years ago they contacted Konami, the Japanese game developer behind Pro-Evolution Soccer, to see could they use their code. Konami didn't bother getting back to him.
According to Silicon Republic;
Using motion capture technology, MojoPin and its two player models have been busy creating realistic movements for the game's players and soon hope to have a platform to work on.
The game's developer's have speculated that with Sky now broadcasting GAA, this game may have wider international appeal.
The release date is anticipated to be this Christmas, though this is dependent on the company's financial position.
