Newly appointed Donegal manager Declan Bonner is expanding his search for players beyond the county's borders.
The Donegal News reports that Bonner, who was ratified in late September as successor to Rory Gallagher, has invited Nathan Mullins to train with his senior football panel.
Nathan Mullins is the son of Dublin legend Brian Mullins, a four-time All-Ireland winner. He lined out at midfield for St. Vincent's - with his father on the sideline - in their recent Dublin SFC final victory against Ballymun Kickhams, a game which saw him ship a serious knock from James McCarthy in the early minutes.
Mullins was born in Donegal when his father was principal of Carndonagh Community School. In 2011, a year after he had been part of the Dublin U21 side which won the All-Ireland, Jim McGuinness called up Mullins to his Donegal U21 panel. He would play against Antrim in an Ulster quarter-final.
It's said that Mullins is understood to be keen to link up with the Donegal panel and should do so in the coming weeks.
