Kerry are Munster Champions yet again after they beat Clare 0-23 to 1-13 at Cusack Park in Ennis. Seán O'Shea put in a great performance off the ground, scoring 5 points from frees and a 45 as Kerry won their 85th provincial title.
It hasn't been a vintage year for the Kingdom, with key losses to Derry and Dublin dumping them out of League contention and their start to Championship, although being successful, has left a bit to be desired.
They haven't hit their stride yet, having been able to coast through the Munster championship with comfortable wins at Cork and Clare. Any doubts of Kerry's qualities weren't answered as on current form it's hard for many to see Kerry able to compete with Dublin or the best from Ulster.
Colm Cooper Shows Concern For Kerry's All-Ireland Chances
Speaking after the final whistle, Kerry legend Colm Cooper showed some concern over Kerry's chances at the Sam Maguire this year.
There's probably more questions than answers Joanne to be honest. I think their form has been ok, nothing more than that. Last year they came alive in the Munster finals at the Gaelic Grounds but today it was a little lacklustre again. They missed a lot of goal chances and I think individually as players if you're looking at performances there wasn't a whole pile more than seven out of tens.
Kerry are building very very slowly and my worry Joanne is that while they're in third gear at the moment, I'm not sure can they find an extra gear. We haven't seen it yet this year, maybe that's part of Jack O'Connor's plan. Maybe he feels he doesn't need to see it for another few weeks.
Kerry will now enter the Sam Maguire group stages in Group 4 where they'll be joined by Monaghan, Meath and the Leinster runner-up. Their first match will be against Monaghan in two weeks time.
For their part Clare will go into Group 3 and they'll be up against the Ulster winner, Tyrone and Cork.
