At a ceremony in Limerick on Monday night, Mikey Kiely was named Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Rising Star Hurler of the Year while Daniel O'Mahony won the football award.
Waterford man Kiely inspired the University of Limerick to retain its Electric Ireland Fitzgibbon Cup title this year.
The Abbeyside Ballinacourty man scored four goals in the final against the University of Galway, which was one more than he managed in his side's quarter-final victory over UCD.
Kiely was also one of seven UL players to be named to the Rising Stars Hurling Team of the Year.
Cork's Daniel O'Mahony was named the Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Rising Star Football Player of the Year. The Knocknagree man was a rock at the heart of the UCC defence as the college won its 24th Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup title with an extra-time victory over UL.
Along with O'Mahony, five other UCC players were named to the Rising Stars Football Team of the Year.
