Mike Finnerty and John Casey, of Midwest Radio and previous Balls.ie fame, are proud Mayo men. So it was always going to be good craic listening along to the All-Ireland final between Mayo and Dublin through the red and green tinted lenses the two provide. Especially if Mayo did something amazing.
Like score an equalising point in the last minute of an utterly compelling game.
Cillian O'Connor showed nerves of steel to knock over the levelling score at the end of a contest in which his side had scored two own goals and were three points behind with two minutes of normal time remaining.
And if you want to know how much it meant to Mayo people, how highly this group of players are thought of amongst Mayo folk, just give this a listen - right through to the very end, when the final whistle blows. Such quotes as, "Oh, my good God", "Call it up" and "I'm shakin', Mike" permeate a glorious few minutes of passion.
Like the man said, they've "some balls", this Mayo side.
