Although some uncertainty surrounded the Mickey Harte's future after a disappointing semi-final collapse against Dublin, the Tyrone County Board have confirmed that Harte has been granted a three-year extension.

Three more years for Mickey Harte is quite the endorsement by Tyrone GAA. He'll have 18 years done by 2020.

Since taking charge of Tyrone in 2003, Harte has led the team to three All-Ireland titles - the only three the county have claimed.
With Seán Cavanagh's recent departure signalling yet another conclusion to Tyrone's golden period of the 2000s, some were of the opinion that Tyrone were in need of significant change.
While Ulster Championships have been continually forthcoming for Harte's Tyrone, they have not reached an All-Ireland final since their victorious campaign of 2008.
Although Harte will be unhappy with Tyrone's performance against Dublin in this year's All-Ireland semi-final, Tyrone's recent success at U-17 level may have suggested to Harte that there is a new crop of players waiting in the wings.
