In a documentary titled 'Pairc Life' airing on Tuesday night, RTÉ's Jacqui Hurley takes a look at GAA from the perspective of player welfare and professionalism.
As part of the programme, Hurley visited Championship side Ipswich Town where manager Mick McCarthy gave his perspective on GAA and how the sport turning pro might affect some players.
Whenever I see them and whenever I watch it [GAA], they are amazing in their fitness levels and their commitment to it.
I think most of them - if it went professional - would be exactly the same. But there will be some who would become professional and might find it a bit of a chore.
I think some of the footballers do. I'm not sure if they're as much in love with it as the GAA players are on an amateur basis.
