It's nearly three years since it was announced that Michael Meehan would be taking an indefinite break from inter-county football.
Meehan was one of the most talented footballers to play the inter-county game over the last 15 years but his career was plagued by injury.
It was ultimately an ankle injury, initially sustained four years earlier in a Connacht semi-final against Sligo, which forced him into a lengthy layoff at the age of just 29.
Two years ago, Meehan told The Irish Examiner that a return to the Galway panel, though he would dearly love it, was unlikely.
However, according to Michael Verney in today's Irish Independent, Meehan could be close to making a comeback.
Now 32, the forward took part in a mid-week training session with the Galway footballers.
Meehan, who made his inter-county debut in 2003, would be coming back into a Galway side looking healthy in Division 2 under Kevin Walsh.
After three games so far, they've accumulated five points, having drawn with Cork in their opening game and then beaten both Fermanagh and Clare.
