Having overseen his 77th All-Ireland final this afternoon, Michael Lyster will now bid farewell to The Sunday Game.
The long-serving broadcaster of the programme across both its Gaelic football and hurling coverage, the Galway man's services to RTÉ were presented in a short montage to close off today's final coverage.
Although he has been with RTÉ long enough to know that his departure would not pass by without comment, Lyster nevertheless appeared taken aback when Pat Spillane suddenly veered away from discussing today's final.
"This is the last day us as a panel will work together with you Michael. Normally we're analysing managers, tactics, teams, individuals, but, today perhaps, we should analyse Michael's performances over the last couple of years."
Prompting the wonderful montage and a resulting applause from both the panel and those working behind the cameras, Colm O'Rourke, who had worked longest of all with Lyster, commended him for his professionalism, and never seeking to be 'the story.'
A wonderful tribute to Michael Lyster, you can watch the montage below.
