Mayo and Cavan are set to face off this weekend as the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship round-robin fixtures get underway. Here is everything you need to know about Mayo v Cavan.

For Mayo, they will be looking to bounce back after a heartbreaking end to their Connacht campaign. The Westerners got their championship underway in style with a dominant 2-21 to 2-6 victory against New York away in the Big Apple in the quarter-final.

This was followed by a 1-15 to 0-13 semi-final win away to Roscommon in Dr Hyde Park. The win set up a final match-up against holder Galway at Pearse Stadium. In a tight affair, Kevin McStay's side came up just short as a point from a last-gasp Conor Gleeson free gave the Tribesmen a 0-16 to 0-15 win.

In Cavan's case, they will be looking to return to winning ways following a tight loss in their Ulster campaign. The Breffni men got their championship underway with an impressive 3-12 to 1-12 win over Monaghan away in Clones. Raymond Galligan's side then faced off against Tyrone in Kingspan Breffni Park in the quarter-finals, where they ultimately fell 1-23 to 3-16 after extra-time

Both sides will be looking for a victory to get their All-Ireland series campaign underway, with Dublin and Roscommon rounding out the sides' in group 2.

When in Mayo v Cavan?

Mayo and Cavan are set to face off on May 18th at 5pm at Hasting Insurance MacHale Park in Castlebar.

Unfortunately, this match will not be televised live. Full radio commentary will be available on Midwest Radio and Northern Sound from 5pm. Saturday Sport on RTÉ Radio One will also provide live updates from 5pm

Team News

Kevin McStay has made two changes to the side that lost out to Galway in the Connacht final. Eoghan McLaughlin comes in for captain Paddy Durcan, while Darren McHale replaces Fergal Boland. Stephen Coen will lead the team out on Saturday.

For Cavan, Raymond Galligan makes two changes in the full-forward line from the team that lost out to Tyrone in the Ulster quarter-final. Cormac O'Reilly and Caoimhin O'Reilly come in for Cian Madden and the injured Paddy Lynch.
