In a tense and enthralling game at Croke Park, Mayo beat Tyrone to set up and All-Ireland semi-final against Tipperary in two weeks time.
At the final whistle, it was a Lee Keegan point which separated the teams. The scoreline: Mayo 0-13 Tyrone 0-12
It was a close game throughout. A crucial moment came 12 minutes from the end when Sean Cavanagh was sent off for a second yellow card.
Over the last ten minutes, Mayo put their fans' nerves through the wringer as they attempted the GAA equivalent of sticking the ball up the jumper in rugby.
However, it was still a Mayo performance which drew praise.
Richly deserved Mayo victory. Aidan O'Sé immense. Lee Keegan likewise.

Lee Keegan, a tour de force down the stretch.
An authentic, contest-seizing leader.

When you've suffered as much psychologically as @MayoGAA you'll take stumbling over the line. Crawling over even! https://t.co/DGFX8eenXg

Mayo's tactics as the game came to a climax did receive some criticism though.
Some insane football from Mayo at the end, but they got away with it. Probably just about deserved. Sad if that's the last we see of Sean C.

Great win for Mayo, but that is puke football at the end.Rule change a must.
