We don't like to preach about our own clairvoyance, but, we predicted this development two months ago.

After a first series that saw former Kerry footballer Aidan O'Mahony named the biggest dancing star of them all, Des Cahill's hypnotic gyrations had us wanting more Dancing with the Stars.

Furthermore, we wanted one star particularly, Marty Morrissey - and now we have him.

Returning to our screens in early January, RTÉ's own Morrissey will captivate audiences right across the country. Speaking of his participation in the show, the Clare man did concede there were a few nerves:

I am delighted but I am nervous! It's an opportunity of a life time to do something way outside my comfort zone - so here goes!

I don't really know how to dance, so to have the opportunity to learn how to dance is fantastic and to be part of this great team is just super!

All a series of pre-dance mind-games undoubtedly, Morrissey will have a few potentially decent opponents to mercilessly see off, week by week.

Norah Casey, Erin McGregor, Anna Geary, Maia Dunphy and Aoife Walsh join Deirdre O'Kane as the female contingent of contestants for the second series.

Bernard O'Shea, Jake Carter, Rob Heffernan and Grand-Slam winning scrum-half Tomás O'Leary are the lads joining Morrissey.

Almost all profess to be nervous to a degree that you wonder why they have chosen to participate in the first place, yet, a general sense of excitement permeates.

Newly-crowned Athlete of the Year Heffernan is coming into the competition with an agenda however:

My wife always wound me up about not being able to dance and wrecking our wedding dance and I've been asked to leave the dance floor on a couple of occassions!

So hopefully that will change.

With Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne returning once again to host the 12 week series, we are compelled to warn you once more of the potential pitfalls including Morrissey in the competition might induce:

We're not sure we can endorse this selection because of the chaos it will cause in marriages up and down the country. When Marty starts moving on national television, what woman's heart will be able to handle it? And what husband won't succumb to a jealousy so bitter it won't lead to irrevocable differences in the relationship?

You've been warned.
