The Marty party was in full flow as the RTÉ radio commentator couldn’t hold back his excitement when Cork, against all odds, defeated Limerick 1-28 to 0-29 to end the champion's hunt for five in a row while booking their spot into the decider against his own beloved Clare.

In typical Marty Morrissey fashion, he went with his natural gut feeling and the general post-match reaction flow, reminding fans of the Rebels' poor start to the Munster championship, which saw them lose to Waterford and Clare in the first two games.

He then went on to compare Cork GAA greats and Cork sporting legends to this current team as they ended the dominance of a historic team. (It might have been a bit cringy but don’t take away this moment from Marty)

"Tyler Walsh blows the full-time whistle, and Limerick is beaten," Morrisey said.

The five-in-a-row dream is over; Cork is in the All-Ireland final. Where has this performance come from? Beaten by Waterford on April 21st, a week later by Clare on April 28th in the Munster championship round-robin, they suddenly found their form to beat Tipperary and Limerick not once but twice.

Limerick, a team seeking five in a row, are beaten in the semi-final.

When we think of Cork, we think of a rich sporting history, a DNA of champions. The names of heroes like Christy Ring, Jimmy Barry-Murphy, Seán Óg Ó hAilpín, Joe Deane, John Fitzgibbon, and Diarmuid ‘The Rock’ O’Sullivan come to mind.

This is the county that has produced Roy Keane, Donal Lenihan, Simon Zebo, Siona O’Sullivan, Rob Heffernan, and Derval O’Rourke. And now, a new chapter is added to this illustrious history-a Cork team that has shattered Limerick’s dream of five in a row."

With preparations for the match, the final and post-match interviews, and reaction, the Marty Party will be well and truly busy in two weeks.

The only question now is whether he will be in Cork or Clare come Monday.
