What do we make of the new two tier structure of the football championship? While there was a sense that some sort of changes needed to be made, the one that has been brought in leaves a lot to be desired.
Team who reside in divisions thee and four of the National Football League will now be consigned to second tier championship after the provincials, unless they manage to reach the final within their province.
Many feel this is a system with huge issues, but that did not stop it being resoundingly passed at congress yesterday.
Martin McHuge is certainly unhappy. Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1, the Donegal legend said that these changes only make Gaelic football worse, as he believed there was nothing wrong with the previous format of the sport.

I was just thinking back to the founder of the GAA Michael Cusack, and the first ever GAA rules were drawn up by Maurice Davin. I don't know how them men would be felling at the minute.
We seem to think that every president we put in has to do something in his three years, and we have to change these rules and everything else. We're so fortunate with the national game that we got from these two men...
Why do we tamper with it? I don't think there's anything wrong with the game. If we look at the Donegal-Kerry game last year, the two All-Ireland finals. They were brilliant matches.
You're going to have hammerings in every sport. After yesterday, do we say we are going to put the Irish rugby team in division two because they got hammered?
I think we're making it elitist, I do really believe that. I think for that reason it is totally wrong.
Are we going down the road of having a semi-professional game? We want big games.
