Monaghan overcame Tyrone today 1-18 to 1-16 in a classic Ulster Championship encounter. The result condemns Mickey Harte's side to the qualifiers while Fermanagh await Monaghan in the Ulster semi-final on 3rd June.
With the game in the balance, it was a Conor McManus masterclass that ultimately swung it. His free with five minutes left gave Monaghan the lead and from there they never looked back, with McManus landing another three points on the way to a two-point victory.
The late rally was much to the delight of certain Monaghan fans, which made for terrific radio as their cries and cheers were constantly picked up by a displeased RTE Radio commentary. Brian Carthy and Tom Carr's was drowned out thanks to the comical celebrations.
