Limerick have pulled off a huge comeback in the opening game of their league campaign this evening, overturning a nine-point halftime deficit to upset All-Ireland champions Tipperary.
This was a highly anticipated clash to get the league underway, with the reigning Liam McCarthy and NHL winners coming head-to-head.
The game didn't really live up to the hype early on. Limerick were unable to deal with the intensity brought by Tipp, who played all of the hurling in the first half.

This score from John McGrath was typical of their display in the opening period.

Tipperary led 0-13 to 0-4 at halftime.
It was a different story after the interval, however. Limerick would look the much stronger outfit, with this stunning goal from Aaron Gillane getting them within four points.

When Gearóid Hegarty found the back of the net seven minutes later Limerick were level.

They powered on from this point, finding themselves two points ahead in injury time.
Tipp would have the opportunity to win it late on, but their free would deflect off the crossbar.
"That's how close it was at the end, ball off the crossbar"
