Limerick's Munster Council representative Mickey O'Sullivan certainly pulled no punches when giving the 'cowards in Croke Park' a piece of mind regarding the Hawk-Eye cock-up during the minor championship semi-final last August.
Limerick lost by a point after extra-time but in the first half of the match they had a point wrongly ruled wide by Hawk-Eye. The Limerick Leader reports that Sullivan, who is secretary of the West divisional board said:
'This team then went to Croke Park to play Galway but they were beaten, not by Galway, but by a machine called Hawk-Eye, and the cowards in Croke Park, not one of whom had the guts to call a spade a spade and admit that these boys were wronged.'
After calling out the folks in Croke Park, O'Sullivan then turned to the match officials 'The referee in his report also left a lot to be desired when he decided that a serious error, which happened that day, didn’t even deserve a mention and of course his notebook couldn’t be found 48-hours after the game.'
Limerick of course unsuccessfully appealed the result at the time but the defeat certainly still rankles with Mr O'Sullivan. The ball is in the 'cowards'' court now. Although they'll probably consult Hawk-Eye as to whether it is or not.
