On Saturday, the Irish Examiner printed an apology from sports editor Tony Leen regarding his 'error of omission' in borrowing the words of Hugh McIlvanney in his piece on the death of Páidí Ó Sé.
There's been relative silence in the Irish media about the incident after the Sunday Times originally reported on it, but Alan English, editor of the Limerick Leader and a former sports editor at the Sunday Times, published three strongly-worded tweets on his Twitter feed today, criticising Leen's apology.
1/3. Can’t let it go. Examiner’s @tonyleen regrets “error of omission” in Paidi OSe piece after ripping off Hugh McIlvanney. Not good enough

3/3. Where’s the apology & what is response from Examiner editor Tim Vaughan, who promised action over plagiarism after Steven King affair?
