You might have thought the Limerick hurlers would have been basking in popularity after their efforts last year - they took home their first Munster title in 17 years.
It would appear not.
Limerick hurling captain Donal O'Grady has revealed in a new book 'Fields of Fire' that he received hate mail after their dispiriting All-Ireland semi-final loss to Clare
We were probably favourites against Clare and maybe that didn’t suit us but the letters were just fully of crazy stuff. I wouldn’t call the people who wrote them Limerick people anyway, no matter what they called themselves. Some were signed, some were not.
The qoutes were included in 'Fields of Fire: The Inside Story of Hurling's Great Renaissance', the new book from GAA journalist Damian Lawlor.
