The Liam MacCarthy Cup has crossed the river Shannon!
In what had seemingly been of 'metaphorical' importance initially, many chose to line the road as Galway's All-Ireland winning hurlers actually crossed the Shannon in Athlone.

It must be said, the crossing in Rosccommon, and not Galway.
Although certain members of staff here have pointed out that Liam MacCarthy did in fact cross the Shannon in 2013 as Clare claimed the title, if Galway fans are happy at this crossing, God knows what the scenes will be like when the bus enters the county itself in a short while.
Liam MacCarthy was only across the Shannon 4 years ago lads. Relax a bit.
